"We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most.... human."
J.T. Kirk
Nothing goes to plan ALL the time. Here you will find the projects that were meant to be finished but whether due to climate, material, inexperience, or a multitude of other reasons, did not see completion. I can now say even though the loss of these projects are but simple set backs in time and finance, at the moment of realization that the pen/item is beyond my level of expertise of repair, after putting in time and energy into a simple piece of wood, it is devastating and that moment seems to last for an eternity.

You almost feel like you have been given the responsibility of watching over and caring for something precious and during your watch, you have failed.

Blank: Segmented Pen: 24kt. Slimline

Cause of Death

Blow out on the lath at the base of the blank.

Lesson Learned

Segmented wood is too fragile in the seams to turn all the way down to a slimline pen, several times it "caught" and stopped turning. This wood is delicate and needs LIGHT cuts.
